What's the best thing about working for your organisation?

We offer a supportive work environment with ongoing personal development, and endeavour to improve staff wellbeing wherever possible. Some of our most successful initiatives promoting the health and wellbeing of our staff include free health checks, vaccinations, team pedometer challenges and resilience training.

Tell us about a recent project or accomplishment you’re particularly proud of

WAYSS was a major contributor to the Victorian Royal Commission into Family Violence. Many of the recommendations in our submission were endorsed by the Royal Commission have been adopted by the Victorian Government. The Victorian Government's commitment to addressing family violence has resulted in increased funding for direct service workers to which we are currently recruiting for.

What sort of experience or study areas should someone have to join your organisation?

Often our staff are working with people who are having the worst day of their life, so it can be challenging and confronting. We take a client-focused, reliable, flexible and honest approach and look for these characteristics in all of our new employees. For our front line staff, we are looking for the ability to work well under pressure and provide an empathetic and supportive nature to our clients.

How often do you advertise on Job Seeker and what keeps you coming back?

We advertise regularly on Job Seeker and have found some great employees over the years. We would love to hear from anyone interested in working with us. We advertise all our roles on jobseeker.org.au and are constantly on the lookout for great Support Service staff and Case Workers.
